JULY 2020 UPDATE:

Over the past few weeks, The Big House staff has been anxiously monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and hoping the events and gatherings we love will be possible again. However, due to concerns for the health and well-being of our community, we’ve decided to cancel The Big House event this year.

While It’s heartbreaking to be unable to gather in-person, we’re currently looking at ways to keep The Big House spirit strong through 2020. We have some great ideas and look forward to sharing them with you in the coming months!

What is The Big House?

The Big House is the largest Super Smash Brothers event series in the fall. Since 2011, it has been the go-to annual convention for Smash fans not only in the Midwest, but across the world. Over three days, The Big House runs a singles (1v1) event, doubles (2v2) event, and various exhibitions for Super Smash Bros. 64, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. We also have plenty of arcade games and side events to participate in at the venue – open to all Smash players and fans!

Why should you attend?

  • Amazing venue – huge convention center space and 24/7 overnight venue

  • Travel convenience – hotels within walking distance, cheap transportation between venue and DTW airport

  • Great TO staff – an established reputation for delivering high-quality tournament organization

  • Player experience – opportunity to officially compete in multiple games, side events, and demos

  • Spectator experience – friendlies, arcade games, side events, and vendor interaction all weekend

  • GP Big House – our all-new series of Grand Prix style side events featuring swiss rounds

  • Big spotlight – professionally broadcast on Smash’s premiere livestream platforms

  • Storied history – past attendance that includes Mango, Armada, PPMD, Mew2King, Hungrybox, Leffen, ESAM, Zackray, dabuz, SuPeRbOoMfAn, and more

  • Michigan community – one of the biggest and most active Super Smash Bros. scenes in the world
