The Big House is the largest Super Smash Brothers tournament series in the Midwest. Since 2011, it has been the go-to annual event for Smashers and spectators not only in the Midwest, but across the world. Over three days, The Big House runs a singles (1v1) event, doubles (2v2) event, and various exhibitions for both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

This year The Big House is on October 7-9, 2016.
This year The Big House is at the Edward Hotel & Convention Center (formerly the Royal Dearborn Hotel) in Dearborn, MI. It’s the second-biggest hotel in the state of Michigan!

All tournament obligations begin at 10am EST on Friday, October 7th. It’s a full three-day tournament.

There is no age requirement. Players and spectators of all ages are welcome to register, as well as any parents or guardians who wish to accompany them!
Yes, spectators must register online before the event. No transactions on the weekend of the event. The Big House will check in attendees at the door, and you must have your spectator pass to be allowed entry into the venue.
At the beginning of the tournament, players are divided into pools of several players each. The size of the pool depends on the overall number of entries. Each pool progresses until there are only a few players left; these players advance to the next phase of the tournament. Exact format to be announced in the coming weeks.
Only sponsors and vendors are allowed to sell merchandise at the venue. We will post more information later about how to make a business inquiry as a sponsor or vendor!
No. The Big House is online registration only. If you show up at the door without having registered online, you will be turned away by event security.

There will be a check-in desk outside the ballroom at the venue, as well as signs to point the way.
No. The only exception is a closed-cap water bottle. Violations of this policy will result in disqualification from the tournament and/or eviction from the venue.

No, sorry. Registration entries cannot be refunded or transferred.

The easiest way to contribute is to help out as a volunteer during The Big House event. If you are interested in volunteering to help run the tournament this year, please do! More info coming soon.
If you are bringing a TV to the tourney, it must be dropped off at the loading dock behind the main ballroom. Hotel staff will NOT allow any TVs in through the front entrance. We will post a map illustration in the coming weeks.

No. Wireless controllers of all kinds are banned due to logistical issues of interference at large-scale events. Only wired GameCube controllers are legal.
